Muggy weather sucks....

Americanized? Jul. 5th, 2005 @ 01:27 pm
You Are 80% American
You're as American as red meat and shooting ranges. Tough and independent, you think big. You love everything about the US, wrong or right. And anyone who criticizes your home better not do it in front of you!
Well, considering I'm a Brazilian, I guess I've been pretty well Americanized......

Ok, so it's been a little while....

Alright, a long while....

School has kept me a lot busier than I expected.  But now that I've finally graduated, maybe (but doubtful) I might have more time.

Still working on getting on fulltime at work again, but a new position has opened up that I've put in for.  It wouldn't be an active dispatch position, but rather "Regional Training and Quality Assurance Coordinator".  It means that I would get to work on designing and implementing our training program not only for our dispatch center, but for all the AMR dispatch centers in the region.

I've gotten the information turned in to get my committee letter of reccomendation from PSU for med school.  Now it's time to start on my AMCAS application and get that in.  And then comes the big wait.  Do I get in this year or not....

ACK! Jan. 19th, 2005 @ 01:15 pm
Ok.... So I'm way too busy for my own good... Haven't posted in almost two weeks....

(bad spaniard accent)
Let me explain... nonono. that would take too long. let me summarize:

Classes are going fairly well. First midterm is tomorrow, immunology. A little nervous. This instructor does not believe in multiple choice tests. Everything is short answer/essay. Kinda weird for a hard science class, but that's the way it is. will be a very challening exam, I'm sure. Oh, and she also doesn't grade on a curve. So yeah.....

Work has been a bit hectic, especially over last weekend with the ice storm. Normally at night the counties start settling down around midnight or so, even on a weekend. On both nights I dispatched, we were extremely busy until about 3 am. Crews were beat, I was beat, it was an ugly weekend.

So as if I don't have enough to do, I came across that Discovery Channel Body Challenge thing. Decided to sign up, mostly for the free 8 weeks at the gym. Now I just have to find time to go to the gym.

Speaking of the ice storm, actually had to drive in that stuff. Wasn't too bad, just had to remember momentum. CR thought I was insane for driving to work in the first place, much less actually having fun driving in the ice.

And now I'm off to a work meeting, followed by my sis-in-law's b-day party. And then going to be up way too late studying immunology....

wheeee.......

"Shaun of the Dead" Jan. 8th, 2005 @ 11:45 pm
Over at CR's tonight with AE.  Watched another crazy movie...   "Shaun of the Dead".  Brit film.  and probably one of the stranger movies I've seen. But hilarious.  Very similar to the "Evil Dead" genre.  Even a couple of jabs at it...  "Ash called in sick".  Before that had gone over to Wall Street Pizza and picked up food for us tonight.  Had forgotten that I owed C some money from going to Nichola's downtown (didn't know the silly place didn't accept plastic) so I think that put us about even....  And yet again, forgot to bring her Christmas present with me.  Really gonna have to get better about that...  AE had to leave early though, got a work call and couldn't access something remotely, so had to go into the office.  Kind of a bummer.  I think she would enjoy the rest of that movie...  Yeah, sorry, I'm all over the place tonight...  Need sleep... have to be up early tomorrow.  Gotta work...

Good night...

Well..  Had planned on getting in bed by 9 tonight....  Had all my reading done for molecular bio tomorrow, done my flowchart for immunology.  Sorted things out for graduation (have to turn in the application to graduate tomorrow).  Figured out my last term at PSU.  What a wonderful feeling.  Until I realized it was gonna be a 16 credit term.  My lightest class will be Chem 350.  Biochemistry.  Ugh...  On the opposite end of the spectrum, Bio487.  Recombinant DNA Techniques.  And the lab for that.  I think the lab will be a blast, not looking forward to the theory though.  Add Microbial Physiology and Molecular Genetics, and I get an alphabet soup...  These next two terms will be ugly, and I need to get A's across the board to get my GPA above a 3.5.  Plus add studying for the MCAT, filling out my med school applications, and my life will be insanely busy to say the least.  Just send an excavation team to dig me out of this mountain I'm under....  :o)

Oh yeah.  Was gonna say something about why I had planned on being in bed by 9ish and it's now 11....

Was flipping through channels a bit, just vegetating.  CSI came on..  Figured I'd watch a few minutes and go to bed....

Fast forward to 10:00.  CSI's over, wanted to catch the weather.  Turn on the news for a few....

Fast forward to 11:00.  Here I sit....   Good night.....

Well, winter term started a few days ago. Monday to be exact. I feel like I just stepped on to a fast-moving treadmill. My mind had been nice and relaxed from Christmas break. Next thing I know, it's trying to catch up with all my professors. Thank God I have a mini-recorder. Can re-listen to lectures and try to get up to speed. Other than that the last few days have been alright, if a bit chilly. Half of me hopes for snow, if only for the day off. The other half remembers last year's snowstorm and then trying to cram 10 weeks of classes into 9 weeks. It's not a great fit.... Oh well... Time to go learn about immunology.....

Well, I'm going to keep this short, as the first day of winter term starts tomorrow (today?)....   If you've found this, it means more than likely you're either a complete random stranger, a bot, or one of my friends....   Not much to talk about tonight....  Had fun over at CR's house with a couple of other friends watching "Shaolin Soccer".   Very interesting movie....  I think I spent more time making fun of the creative subtitling from the original Chinese.  A little too literal at times, and where's a spell-checker when you need one!

Anyways, off to bed....  Alarm clock will be going off entirely too early....
